Job Summary:

As a technical subject matter expert, your role will be instrumental in maintaining high equipment availability rates. You will utilize preventive and predictive maintenance processes to manage equipment breakdowns, rapidly restore equipment to service, and work with other Target maintenance technicians to address complex issues. You will oversee the quality of work provided by external specialty contractors, collaborate with building leaders to optimize ammonia refrigeration equipment, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks with a sense of urgency. You will also work with others to conduct Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and address systemic issues through careful observation and diagnostic tools. A deep understanding of system control logic and troubleshooting techniques will be essential. Additionally, you will function as a technical trainer and support other maintenance technicians in building their expertise. It is vital to note that job duties may be revised in response to business requirements.

Roles and Duties:

  • Be able to work with various types of ammonia refrigeration systems, including those used in industrial or commercial settings
  • Take part in every aspect of Target's Process Safety Management program (PSM) to guarantee safe and reliable procedures
  • Complete preventive maintenance
  • Complete corrective maintenance
  • Whether you need to reset, control, repair, or replace components, proper maintenance is key to keeping machinery in good working order
  • Maintaining and preserving machinery involves the process of cleaning out any grime, adding lubrication for seamless operation, and applying paint as a protective layer
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, and transformers using various techniques and approaches
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance checks on facility equipment, including powered industrial trucks, HVAC systems, air compressors, and balers, to keep them running at peak performance and prevent unexpected breakdowns
  • A schematic diagram consists of several basic elements, such as the power source, ground, symbols representing components, wires or lines that connect components, and annotations and notes. Each element plays a vital role in describing the circuit's structure and connection of components
  • Divide responsibilities and tasks among peer technicians based on each individual's areas of expertise, skill level, and availability
  • Offer guidance and knowledge on technical training to other maintenance personnel and serve as the primary trainer for Maintenance Technician Trainees
  • Employ handheld devices and mobile asset management apps to initiate and close Work Orders, capturing necessary metrics such as labor hours, equipment downtime, fault identification, repair procedures, and parts usage
  • Cultivate a conducive atmosphere where colleagues at all levels can interact positively and work cohesively
  • Adhere to the correct safety protocol and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when maintaining machinery to reduce the risk of accidents, such as Lock Out/Tag Out and Arc Flash
  • Capacity to Attain and Uphold a RETA CARO Accreditation

Physical Demands:

  • Daily engagement in the routine actions of bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching, both above and below the waist
  • Applying safety techniques for climbing up and down ladders, gangways, and stairs and working on platforms and equipment that are positioned at considerable heights
  • Consistently being in motion within and nearby the site for extended periods, spanning up to 10-12 hours per workday
  • Perform the task of moving products and packages that weigh up to 49 pounds by applying physical effort
  • Engaging in reiterative motions that could involve the fingers, hands, or wrists
  • A noteworthy time spent using handheld devices or computer attachments, like mice, keyboards, measuring implements, and temperature gauges
  • The handling of mechanical devices, workbench electric equipment, automotive transportation, and/or massive machinery, which also involves driving Powered Industrial Trucks using pedals, tillers, and switches
  • Use of non-electronic instruments such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers and other traditional tools that require manual operation
  • The work environment could contain small or enclosed spaces, dust, poor air quality, unpleasant smells, outside elements, extreme temperatures, excessive noise levels, vibrations, prolonged standing on firm concrete surfaces, and floors that are wet or uneven

Qualifications:

  • Skilled in PC operations and adept at operating handheld app platforms
  • Having a sound understanding of electrical measuring, symbols, and wiring diagrams is essential for any electrician or technician
  • Having worked in several fields like marketing, technology, and education, I have gained extensive experience in a wide variety of areas:
  • After the initial inspection, preventive maintenance procedures should be put in place to address identified issues. These might include regular cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of system components to maintain their proper function, as well as periodic testing and calibration of equipment
  • Proper training and experience in reading and understanding blueprints and schematics is necessary to ensure that projects are completed to specifications and within budget
  • Work order management
  • Industrial electrical engineers are responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems in industrial facilities
  • Once a program has been created, it can be loaded onto the PLC and executed in real-time, allowing the system to respond to changing conditions and inputs in real-time
  • Failure to adhere to the NEC can result in fines and legal liabilities, as well as increased risk of injury or property damage
  • The IIAR strives to promote the use of natural refrigerants like ammonia, which have a low impact on the environment and are energy efficient
  • As an organization, RETA is dedicated to improving the quality and safety of refrigeration systems through education and professional development
  • An educational background consisting of a degree from a technical or community college and accredited industrial maintenance certifications recognized by relevant accrediting organizations, highlighting specialized training in areas like Robotics, Industrial Networks, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Machine Logic
  • A knowledgeable professional familiar with the mechanics of an ammonia refrigeration system in an industrial setting for over four years.
  • CARO and/or CIRO certification holders can confidently be relied on to provide top-notch cyber threat intelligence to their organizations.
